Report: Manchester United target Nathaniel Clyne

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal reportedly wants Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne to be his long-term right-back at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are reportedly poised to revive their interest in highly-rated Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The 23-year-old has excelled for the Saints in a season that has seen him force his way into the England setup and win an admirer in United boss Louis van Gaal.

The Red Devils are said to have missed out on him when he left Crystal Palace for the South Coast in 2012.

However, his performances this season have piqued United's interest once more and, with his contract expiring in 18 months, Van Gaal will test Southampton's resolve, according to The Mirror.

Having started 18 Premier League games this season, Clyne has been ever-present in a Southampton side that sits fourth in the table.
