Report: Moyes plans to keep Rooney
New Manchester United manager David Moyes will attempt to convince wantaway striker Wayne Rooney to remain at Old Trafford next season, according to a report.

New Manchester United manager David Moyes is expected to hold talks with Wayne Rooney to aim to persuade the striker to remain with the Premier League champions.

The England striker has declared his desire to leave the Red Devils in the summer as he seeks a new challenge following nine years at Old Trafford.

Moyes officially begins his United reign on July 1, but was at their Carrington training ground on Monday for discussions with Sir Alex Ferguson about planning for next season.

It was concluded that the departing Everton boss, who sold Rooney to his new employers in 2004, would like the striker to be part of his title-defending squad, according to The Guardian.

The same source claims that Rooney has reconsidered his position since Moyes's appointment.
