Roma are reportedly nearing an agreement with Manchester United for the signing of Chris Smalling.
The Englishman joined the Italian giants on loan last summer and has impressed during the 2019-20 campaign, making 28 appearances in all competitions, including 21 in Serie A.
Roma were allegedly struggling to agree a fee with the 20-time English champions due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
However, according to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A outfit are now close to reaching an agreement with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to sign the 30-year-old on a permanent deal.
The report claims that Smalling could remain on loan with Paulo Fonseca's side for the 2020-21 campaign before officially completing a transfer next summer for a fee in the region of €15m (£13m).
The former Fulham youngster has made 323 appearances for United in all competitions, winning two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and the Europa League during his time at the club.
