Ian Holloway vows to 'get things right' following defeat

Ian Holloway vows that Millwall will 'work their socks off' following a costly defeat against fellow relegation-threatened club Barnsley.

Millwall manager Ian Holloway has vowed that his side will 'work their socks off' to avoid relegation from the Championship.

The Lions lost 1-0 against fellow strugglers Barnsley at Oakwell, leaving themselves one point above the bottom three.

"We could have gone a long way to making our season easier today, but we didn't," Holloway told reporters after the game. "We're back to square one. The lads are upset in the dressing room. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb with one long ball over the top.

"We've got 14 games to go now, which is a lot of matches. We have to dust ourselves down. It's as bad a result as I've had in a long time, mainly because of the magnitude of what a win would've done.

"We created more chances than them, but they took one of theirs and we didn't. It's as simple as that. I can assure the fans that we will work our socks off to get this right for them. There's lots of football to play."

Millwall return to league action next weekend with a home match against Brighton and Hove Albion.
