MK Dons 'receive over 200 applications for vacant manager's job'

MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman reveals that the club have received more than 200 applications for the manager's job following Karl Robinson's exit.

MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman has revealed that the club have received more than 200 applications for the vacant manager's job following Karl Robinson's exit.

Robinson left the club by mutual consent at the weekend following a six-year spell in charge.

The Dons are hovering just above the relegation zone in League One after winning just four of their 15 games of the campaign so far.

Former Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill remains the bookmakers' favourite to take the job, but Winkelman has claimed that the club are not short of applicants.

"Some people I don't even know have applied and some people I do know have applied and it's exciting to see them on there," Winkelman told ITV News Anglia.

"I do think we'll have a great opportunity to make an interesting decision, but there's a responsibility that goes with that to try and do the right thing for the club."

The club's next game is away to Sheffield United on Saturday.
