Charles N'Zogbia 'fails Nantes medical'

Former Aston Villa winger Charles N'Zogbia's proposed move to Nantes hits a delay after he is discovered to have "a small heart condition".

Former Aston Villa winger Charles N'Zogbia has reportedly failed a medical ahead of a proposed move to Ligue 1 side Nantes.

The 30-year-old, who was released by the Villans over the summer following their relegation to the Championship, had already agreed terms with Nantes over a return to his homeland on a one-year deal.

According to L'Equipe, the deal has hit a setback, however, after N'Zogbia was found to have "a small heart condition" during the medical.

The newspaper reports that N'Zogbia will now undergo more extensive tests to determine if the problem is serious enough to prevent him from continuing as a top-level footballer, with a final decision expected on Wednesday.

N'Zogbia also played for Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic during his time in England and has two caps for the France national side.
