Rafael Benitez: 'Napoli still in title race'

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez insists that his troops can bridge the eight-point gap between themselves and Juventus.

Rafael Benitez has rubbished suggestions that his Napoli side are already too far off the pace to win the Serie A this season.

Benitez's side looked on course to move within six points of leaders Juventus when Jose Callejon struck in stoppage time to give them a 2-1 lead away to Inter Milan last night.

However, Hernanes pounced with a header moments later to save Inter but, despite being eight points adrift, the Spaniard claims that a Scudetto is not yet beyond Napoli.

"We've already shown a year ago that we are able to fight at the top," Benitez, who led the Naples club to a third-placed finish last season, told Sky Sport Italia.

"I'm not disappointed with the draw but content with the reaction of the team at a difficult ground like this one [San Siro].

"I'm unhappy because we went ahead twice and twice we conceded right away but, overall, the second half pleased me."

The Partenopei lie seventh in the standings.
