Sports Mole takes a look at the games Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson could miss through his quad injury.

Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson was forced off with a suspected quad issue in their clash with Southampton prior to the international break and was unable to make Saturday's trip to Manchester United.

With increasing reports that the 29-year-old has suffered another setback in his recovery, that could see him miss out until the end of October, Steve Bruce has to plan without last season's top scorer, who hit 13 Premier League goals and began the new campaign with two goals from three games.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the upcoming games that Wilson could miss through injury.

Having collected just one point from their opening four games of the season, the Magpies will go in search of an elusive victory on Friday evening, when they welcome Leeds United to St. James' Park.

The visitors have had struggles of their own at the beginning of the campaign, collecting just two points from their four outings, making Friday's encounter a crucial battle.

Watford vs Newcastle United - September 25

Following that home clash, Bruce takes his side south to battle newly-promoted Watford, who kicked their season off with a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa, before falling to three consecutive defeats at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Xisco Munoz arrived at Vicarage Road early last season and guided the Hornets to second place, earning automatic promotion as a result, and they will be desperate to pick up a result at home to a potential rival in the battle to avoid the drop.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United - October 2

The Magpies face another away trip after the turn of the month, as they travel to the Midlands to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Following the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, Bruno Lage has taken charge, and they picked up their first points of the season with a 2-0 win over Watford after losing their opening three games of the campaign.

Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur - October 17

Potentially a blessing for Bruce's side, October brings about another international break, allowing Wilson two weeks to catch up his fitness before they return to action with a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The forward is unlikely to return by this point though, with Bruce taking his side into an encounter with Nuno Espirito Santo's men without his key focal point.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United - October 23

As the English striker comes closer to full fitness, the Magpies travel to the capital to take on Crystal Palace in late October.

Patrick Vieira took the managerial role at Selhurst Park over the summer, and with a raft of exciting new additions, they will hope to have kicked into gear by this point, having comfortably defeated previous league leaders Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in the fourth Premier League game of the season.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea - October 30

While Newcastle will hope to get their marksman back by this point, if the reported timeline is to be believed, Wilson may see his last missed game take place at the end of October, when title-chasing Chelsea arrive in the North East.

Thomas Tuchel guided the Blues to the Champions League title last season, and with the addition of striker Romelu Lukaku, they look an imposing outfit again this season, presenting a particularly tough task for the Magpies, especially if their forward remains out of action.
