Siem de Jong a doubt for Southampton trip

Newcastle United striker Siem de Jong is reportedly a doubt for the club's trip to Southampton next weekend with a leg injury.

Siem de Jong has reportedly suffered an injury setback that could force him to miss Newcastle United's trip to Southampton in the Premier League next weekend.

The striker, who joined the club this summer, missed the opening game of the season with a calf problem, but made his debut against Aston Villa last month.

However, the Shields Gazette reports that the Netherlands international has suffered a new leg injury, and has been rated as doubtful for the match at St Mary's next Saturday.

Newcastle are without a win from their first three matches of the new Premier League season, sitting 16th in the table.
