Siem de Jong eager to impress with goals for Newcastle United

Siem de Jong insists that scoring goals will be a big part of his game at Newcastle United next season.

Siem de Jong has revealed that his big target is to contribute goals on a regular basis in the Premier League following his move to Newcastle United.

The Magpies completed a six-year deal after agreeing a fee with Ajax for their captain, who believes that he will also trusted to be a leader for his new club when the season starts in August.

"I hope to bring a lot of attacking play and goals. At Ajax I scored quite a lot of goals as an attacking midfielder, sometimes as a striker, and I hope to do that here too," De Jong is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "I want to help the team be as good as it can be.

"I had a great couple of years [as captain] at Ajax and really improved my leadership skills.

"It was good for me to be captain and to have that opportunity at Ajax. I hope that will help me here."

De Jong scored nine goals in all competitions for Ajax last season.
