Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has compared defender Fabricio Coloccini to England legend Bobby Moore for his performance against Sunderland on Sunday.
Pardew believes that had the Argentine centre-back not been forced off in the 80th minute with an injury, then the Magpies could have won the Tyne-Wear derby.
"Maybe if Coloccini had stayed on, he would have seen that out," he is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail. "He was absolutely phenomenal today.
"If you want an example of a centre-half playing where you have got to head it, kick it, cover people, get in the right position and then have the calmness to play, that was your example.
"I come from a famous football club, West Ham, and that was like watching Bobby Moore today. He was terrific."
The Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light finished in a 1-1 draw.
