Danny Simpson insists that Newcastle can still bag a top-four spot.

Danny Simpson has insisted that Newcastle United can still bag a top-four spot in the Premier League despite their recent loss of form.

The Magpies boomed to third place in the league earlier this season, before a string of losses resulted in them slumping to seventh.

"Let people think we're on the slide," the defender said. "I know we've not won for a few games now but we stick together. Losing to West Brom was more disappointing than any of the last six games.

"After we lost to Norwich everyone knew the defensive problems we had there.

"We must tighten things up. We've let in a lot of goals the past few weeks."

Newcastle have bagged 27 points from 17 games.
