Bas Dost 'wants to stay at Wolfsburg'

Bas Dost is not interested in leaving Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window, according to sporting director Klaus Allofs.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has claimed that Bas Dost does not want to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United have been repeatedly linked with the Dutch striker in recent weeks, but Allofs has been boosted by talks with the 26-year-old and he believes that clubs are unlikely to meet their valuation.

"We spoke to his agent for the first time over the last week, and it has not turned out that Bas wants to leave. He feels very well in Wolfsburg," he told reporters.

"I read lump sum payments from €10m (£7.1m) to €12m (£8.5m) for Bas, but then I refer to Roberto Firmino's example, and say they will have to get used to higher amounts if any club really wants to buy Dost."

Dost scored 20 goals in all competitions last season.
