Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles plays down reports that he could leave St James' Park in this summer's transfer window.

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has played down suggestions that he could leave St James' Park in this summer's transfer window.

Lascelles, 24, is believed to be a transfer target for Everton, Chelsea and West Ham United following an impressive 2017-18 campaign with the Magpies.

The centre-back, however, has insisted that he is "happy" at Newcastle, who will finish their 2017-18 Premier League season at home to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

"When you're flicking through Twitter or people say there's rumours about this, that and the other you're aware of it but I don't take any notice," Lascelles told Sky Sports News.

"I'm a Newcastle player, I'm happy here, I'm the captain and things are going really well. You hear about rumours, but I'm just concentrating on Newcastle."

Lascelles has scored three times in 34 appearances for Newcastle this term.
