Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias has revealed that the club is "actively looking at players" for next season.
The Magpies posted strong financial figures on Wednesday with a turnover of £93.3m signalling a 5.4% increase in profits.
"We are actively looking at players, and have been since October. All over Europe - it's not just France," Llambias told The Mirror.
"We are definitely going in the right direction. We had a £17m operating loss [in 2008]."
Newcastle continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they travel to champions Manchester City.
