Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias reveals that the club is "actively looking at players" ahead of the new Premier League season.

Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias has revealed that the club is "actively looking at players" for next season.

The Magpies posted strong financial figures on Wednesday with a turnover of £93.3m signalling a 5.4% increase in profits.

"We are actively looking at players, and have been since October. All over Europe - it's not just France," Llambias told The Mirror.

"We are definitely going in the right direction. We had a £17m operating loss [in 2008]."

Newcastle continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they travel to champions Manchester City.
