Modibo Maiga is reportedly just a medical away from joining Newcastle United.
The Sochaux striker is due on Tyneside today to seal his £7m transfer, according to The Sun.
The 24-year-old has made no secret of his unhappiness at playing for the French outfit, where he has scored 19 goals in 41 appearances since his arrival in 2010.
Sochaux were unhappy at the the Magpies' previous approach for Maiga during the summer, and reported the club to FIFA for allegedly moving for the player in an illegal manner.
