Newcastle United have reportedly set their sights on signing Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury, amid interest from Southampton also.
The Loughborough-born central midfielder struggled to earn his place in Brendan Rodgers's side last season, finishing the campaign with only 10 Premier League appearances under his belt.
Leicester are reportedly closing in on the signing of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, which suggests that Choudhury could fall further down the pecking order.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle attempted to sign the 23-year-old in January only for the deal to collapse an hour before the winter window deadline, but Steve Bruce is keen to return to the table with a second offer.
Southampton are also in line to sign Choudhury as they may be in need of a replacement for captain James Ward-Prowse, amid interest from Aston Villa.
Choudhury came through the ranks at Leicester's academy and has gone on to make 72 appearances for the club since making his first-team debut in 2017.
