Newcastle United meet Chancel Mbemba release clause?

Newcastle United look set to raid Anderlecht for the second time in a week after reportedly meeting defender Chancel Mbemba's £7m release clause.

Newcastle United have met Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba's £7m release clause, according to reports.

The move would signal the second time the Magpies have raided the Belgian club this summer, having completed the signing of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic earlier this week.

The Telegraph reports that the only stumbling block to adding Mbemba to their ranks could be acquiring a work permit for the Congo DR international.

However, this is not believed to be a problem and it has been suggested that the defender will fly to England to complete his medical before the weekend.

The full-back, who turns 21 next month, would be Newcastle's third signing of the transfer window after Mitrovic and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
