Report: Newcastle United close to Jamaal Lascelles deal

Newcastle United will reportedly attempt to push through the signing of Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles in the next 24 hours.

Newcastle United will reportedly complete a deal to bring Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles to the club in the next 24 hours.

The 20-year-old was pulled out of Forest's pre-season game against West Bromwich Albion earlier this weekend, fueling speculation that he is set to leave the Championship side.

According to The Mirror, manager Alan Pardew is hoping to push a £3m deal through on Monday in order to beat Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers to the England Under-20 international.

The report also claims that Lascelles could be loaned back to Forest for the first half of the season.
