Sunderland striker Connor Wickham could apparently follow in the footsteps of Jack Colback by making the controversial switch from the Black Cats to Newcastle United this summer.
The 21-year-old, who has just one year left on his current deal at the Stadium of Light and has not yet been offered a new contract, has been told to make a decision on his future by manager Gus Poyet.
The situation has alerted rivals Newcastle United, who could swoop for Wickham in a cut-price £6m deal, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew tried to sign Wickham, who lives in Newcastle, in 2011 and was the manager of Reading when the youngster played in their academy.
