Newcastle United full-back Danny Simpson suggests that he is part of manager Alan Pardew's future plans, despite questions over the player's future.

Newcastle United full-back Danny Simpson has suggested that he wants to remain at St James' Park after the January transfer window.

Simpson's future has been called into question in recent months after reports emerged claiming that the 25-year-old had rejected a contract offer from the North-East outfit in the summer.

When asked by The Chronicle if he expects to be playing in the Europa League when the competition resumes in February, Simpson said: "Of course, it's a while away yet, but if I have it my way, hopefully, I'll be playing in the next phase. I love playing in Europe. I'm enjoying every minute of it."

Simpson moved to Newcastle from Manchester United in 2010.
