League Two round-up

Southend move clear at the top of League Two while a late Nick Fenton strike denies Carl Fletcher a win in his first match as Plymouth manager.

Carl Fletcher was denied a dream start as the permanent Plymouth manager after Nick Fenton scored an injury time equaliser to snatch Morecambe a 1-1 draw at Home Park.

It looked as if Simon Walton's 25-yard volley would be enough for Plymouth to record just their third win of the season, but Fenton's strike four minutes into stoppage time earned Morecambe a dramatic late point.

Meanwhile, Southend went clear at the top of the League Two table after beating promotion rivals Oxford 2-1.

Ryan Hall netted the winner for the Shrimpers after Damien Batt scored for Oxford to cancel out Mark Phillips earlier effort.

League newcomers Crawley had gone into their game with Hereford level on points with Southend, but fell behind after being held 1-1 away at the Bulls.

Cheltenham and Shrewsbury both climbed the table after recording away wins at Bradford and Dagenham respectively.

James Collins returned for the Shrews to wrap up victory with a late penalty after Terry Gornell had earlier given them the lead, while Kaid Mohammed scored the soiltary goal as the Robins won at Valley Parade.

The Priestfield Stadium witnessed a seven goal thriller, with the home side coming out on top as Gillingham beat Northampton 4-3. Danny Kedwall's stoppage time penalty was the decisive goal as the Gills moved up to 8th with victory.

At the foot of the table, Barnet accompany Plymouth in the bottom two despite earning a valuable away point at AFC Wimbledon.
