Alex McLeish says that he will look to take up a managerial post in time for the start of next season.

Alex McLeish has confirmed that he will be looking to return to football management ahead of next season.

The Scot has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest last month after 40 days in charge.

McLeish told The People: "I'll look for work again this summer. In the meantime, I will try to get my golf handicap down, do some media work and take in the Masters for the first time.

"It's been a challenging two years. I didn't want to be out of work, but it was not the right thing for me or Forest and we both quickly accepted that.

"There were too many things that we couldn't agree on. We shook hands and I left amicably."

McLeish has previously taken charge of Rangers, Aston Villa and Birmingham City.
