Michel Platini: 'Sepp Blatter has made right decision'

UEFA president Michel Platini claims that Sepp Blatter has made the "right decision" to step down as FIFA president.

UEFA president Michel Platini has claimed that Sepp Blatter has made the "right decision" in resigning as FIFA president.

Blatter, 79, announced on Tuesday that he would be stepping down from the role in the next nine months following the latest corruption scandal to hit world football's governing body.

"It was a difficult decision, a brave decision and the right decision," Platini said in a brief statement on UEFA's official website.

Blatter was elected FIFA president for a fifth time in Zurich last week.
