This year marks Niger's debut in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Harouna Doula Gabde's side has had to withdraw from a number of tournaments during their history due to financial problems.

However, they were the source of one of the biggest upsets in qualifying as they defeated Egypt 1-0 in October 2010.

Group: C

Players to watch out for:

Ouwo Moussa Maazou

The CSKA Moscow striker, who is currently on loan at Belgian side Zulte Waregem, averages a goal every other game for the national team. If they are going to progress from their group, they will need Maazou to be on top form.

Kassaly Daouda

Having made 54 appearances for his country, Daouda ranks among the more experienced players in the squad. He will need to draw on all of his international knowledge to keep opposing strikers out.

Previous best: N/A

Odds to win outright: 150/1
