Northern Ireland reach Euro 2016 knockout stage after Turkey beat Czech Republic

Northern Ireland advance to the last 16 of Euro 2016 after Turkey's win over the Czech Republic puts Michael O'Neill's side among the four best third-placed teams.

Northern Ireland have reached the knockout stages of Euro 2016 following Turkey's 2-0 win over the Czech Republic.

Michael O'Neill's side lost 1-0 to Germany on Tuesday but finished third in Group C, with their tally of three points enough to see them advance on goal difference.

In an expanded European Championships competition, the four best third-placed teams advance, along with the six group winners and runners-up.

Northern Ireland will play either fellow Brits Wales or tournament hosts France in the last 16.
