Grant Holt claims that only players from top clubs get picked by England, and that he and Rickie Lambert should have had a chance.

Norwich City striker Grant Holt has criticised the national team set-up, claiming that he has not had a fair chance under Roy Hodgson.

The 31-year-old, who scored 15 goals last season, believes that he should have had a chance for England during the summer.

Holt also suggests that Southampton's Rickie Lambert is experiencing a similarly unfair snub this season and questions whether only players at the top clubs get picked.

"It bugs me," Holt told The Telegraph. "I should have been there in the summer, if not for the Euros, I should definitely had a chance in the two friendlies.

"It bugs me when a squad is called and I don't hear Rickie Lambert's name mentioned, not one breath, and he's on form, scoring, similar to what I did last year.

"Is it the 'fashionable club' thing? Are we so stick in our ways that you have to be at Manchester United, Arsenal of Tottenham?"

Holt's Norwich side take on Wigan Athletic this afternoon.
