Norwich City's Declan Rudd ready to fight for place

Norwich City's young goalkeeper Declan Rudd vows to challenge for a place in the Championship side's team.

Declan Rudd has insisted that he is prepared to battle for his place in the Norwich City starting lineup.

The 23-year-old is one of three goalkeepers involved in the senior setup at Carrow Road, with John Ruddy and Mark Bunn believed to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, Rudd has refused to give up on forcing his way into Neil Adams's plans.

"I've had a chat with the gaffer and I know I have two really good goalkeepers in front of me. Mark Bunn has proved himself, John Ruddy is an England international who is a Premier League goalkeeper, so for me to fight my way past them is a challenge but that is what I love. I love coming to work every day and knowing I have to work hard to push past people," the Eastern Daily Press quotes Rudd as saying.

"That is what I will look to do. I'm looking forward to the season. It can't come quickly enough. Everyone wants to play football but Norwich holds a special place for me and I want to play here. The manager makes that choice and I have two goalkeepers who I need to work hard to catch up with."

Rudd, who spent last season on loan with Preston North End, signed professional forms with Norwich in 2008.
