Marcos Alonso grabs winner for Fiorentina

Marcos Alonso scores late on to give Fiorentina all three points against Palermo in Serie A.

Fiorentina ensured Europa League qualification as Marcos Alonso grabbed the winner in an entertaining 3-2 victory at Palermo in Serie A this afternoon.

The visitors took the lead when Josip Ilicic found the top corner with a thunderous strike from 30 yards out.

However, Palermo soon replied through Mato Jajalo, who matched Ilicic's attempt with another effort from outside the area.

Fiorentina regained the advantage thanks to Alberto Gilardino, who the found the bottom corner following Jose Mauri's pass.

After a quiet start to the second half, Luca Rigoni equalised for the home side, tapping in from close range after Giancarlo Gonzalez's corner.

The visitors took the lead once more with Alonso's strike following Alberto Gilardino's header.

Fiorentina held on to claim all three points, despite having Jasmin Kurtic sent off late on for two yellow cards within the space of a few minutes.
