League One side Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of striker Eoin Doyle from Preston North End on a loan deal running until January 1.
The 29-year-old - formerly of Cardiff City, Chesterfield and Hibernian - had fallen down the pecking order at Deepdale and failed to make an appearance for Alex Neil's side before his move.
The Irishman joined Preston on a permanent deal last summer following a successful loan spell but was loaned out to League Two side Portsmouth for the second half of the campaign after an on-pitch fight with teammate Jermaine Beckford.
Doyle scored two times in 12 appearances for Pompey, helping them to the League Two title, and now joins an Oldham side that are winless in the league so far this season.
John Sheridan is expected to put Doyle straight into contention for this weekend's home game with Charlton Athletic.
