Edinson Cavani certain of Zlatan Ibrahimovic "connection"

Edinson Cavani says that he does have a partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Paris Saint-Germain and that it will continue to get stronger.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has no doubts that he has a connection with his teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Uruguayan joined the French champions from Napoli in the summer for £55m, and many questioned whether or not two of Europe's finest attackers would be able to play together.

However, Cavani, who has scored five times in all competitions for PSG this season, believes that he and Ibrahimovic already have a partnership that will continue to get stronger.

"On a certain level, there's a connection between us that comes much more easily than with other players," Cavani told BeIN Sport. "I think we just need to work on it a bit harder.

"We haven't been playing together for very long, and we haven't had the proper preparation. Still, we've proven that there is a connection between us, even though we will need to prepare more thoroughly in order to get better results. Laurent Blanc has asked me to play on the flank, but also to cut inside when Zlatan gets the ball in deep positions.

"I stay in this central role when Zlatan stays back. That's when Laurent Blanc likes our wing-backs to get forward a lot. He likes us to maintain possession. He wants us to bring width into our play but we haven't seen it much this season because of the difficulties our opponents have presented."
