Paris Saint-Germain stay in title hunt following Lyon draw

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's controversial second-half penalty earns Paris Saint-Germain a 1-1 draw away at Lyon in Ligue 1.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's second-half penalty ensured that Paris Saint-Germain kept themselves in the Ligue 1 title race as they held hosts Lyon to a 1-1 draw at the Stade de Gerland this evening.

Lyon youngster Corentin Tolisso looked to set the game alight in the opening minutes when he struck a shot that clipped the post.

The away side came back when Ibrahimovic cut the ball into the path of Edinson Cavani, who saw his shot turned round the upright by Lyon stopper Anthony Lopes.

In a game that swung from end to end, Lyon were the first side to find the net and it came through Clinton N'Jie in the 30th minute, when the striker tucked home from six yards following Nabil Fekir's flicked pass.

PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi should have resorted parity before half time when he was found by Marquinhos, but the midfielder could only blast over without testing the keeper.

Lyon defended resolutely in the second period, but their clean sheet record of 10 hours came under threat when Samuel Umtiti gave away a penalty.

Ibrahimovic was left to convert the spot kick at the second time of asking, having been instructed to retake after his original attempt was kept out by Lopes.

With neither side ready to give up the point, the final moments of the game produced few chances, although PSG fans were thankful for Marquinhos who produced a standout piece of defending to deny Fekir as the game ended 1-1.
