Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes confesses that his playing squad have been troubled by Fabrice Muamba's battle for life.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has admitted that his playing squad have been affected by Fabrice Muamba's battle for life.

The Bolton Wanderers midfielder is currently in a critical condition at the London Chest Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during a match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

Having taken a QPR training session earlier today, Hughes revealed that some of his players were feeling "flat" in the wake of the weekend's incident.

"When it happens to a young man who is quite obviously a very fit individual, and he's struck down at match time in front of everyone, then it just becomes incomprehensible," Hughes told reporters.

"Some of the guys know him. It was a little bit flat today, actually. I sensed that. It's understandable to a certain degree.

"Guys in the club that know Fabrice personally will obviously have him in their thoughts."

An update on Muamba's health is expected later today.
