QPR chief executive Philip Beard confirms that a new manager could be in place by the weekend.

Queens Park Rangers chief executive Philip Beard has confirmed that the club are working towards bringing Neil Warnock's successor to West London before the side's clash with Newcastle United on Sunday.

The favourite to replace Warnock, who was sacked by the club last night, is former Fulham manager Mark Hughes.

"I'm hoping that in advance of our important game against Newcastle next Sunday we will have somebody in place, to be up at Newcastle," Beard told BBC Radio Five Live.

Hughes is expected to hold talks with the Premier League side today.
