Queens Park Rangers defender Christopher Samba insists that he is "positive" he can perform well against Manchester United striker Robin van Persie on Saturday.

Queens Park Rangers defender Christopher Samba has revealed that he feels fitter ahead of his side's clash with Manchester United on Saturday.

Samba struggled as QPR fell to a 4-1 defeat to Swansea City two weeks ago, but the former Blackburn Rovers centre-back has insisted that he is feeling confident ahead of facing United striker Robin van Persie.

The 28-year-old told The Sun: "Van Persie is an excellent player but I've been working on my fitness and I'm really much fitter than I was for the last game at Swansea, so it will be more difficult to beat me.

"He is on fire but I am positive that I can have a good game against him - although it is not only him we have to stop because United have a lot of top players."

The Congo international joined Queens Park Rangers during the January transfer window for a fee in the region of £12.5m.
