Both sides were unable to find the goal in the first 45 minutes of their new season, but QPR dominated the game's early chances, with striker Charlie Austin firing wide on two occasions.
Charlton's Johann Gudmondsson created space for a shot from 25 yards, but his effort went wide.
Tjaronn Chery came close to giving Rangers the lead twice, first with a free kick that curled just wide, before a 25-yard strike was saved by Nick Pope.
Charlton put the visitors under increased pressure in the second half, and Watt gave the hosts the lead on 52 minutes with a neat finish at the near post.
The Addicks continued to press forward, and doubled their lead on 72 minutes through a 20-yard attempt by Fox.
Charlton almost added a third goal late on, as Gudmundsson curled a free kick towards goal but struck the crossbar.
