The visitors broke the deadlock after just eight minutes when Michael Turner's ball over the top was flicked forward by Matt Smith.

Ross McCormack was first to the ball and he skilfully managed to send a header looping over Stephen Henderson and into the net.

Charlton recovered quickly, however, equalising just after the quarter-hour mark as Morgan Fox's low cross evaded Frederic Bulot but was prodded home by Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

The Addicks could have then been ahead in the 27th minute when Igor Vetokele squared to Gudmundsson in front of goal, but the winger managed to find only the side-netting.

Neither side could score again by the break, though Fulham came close to netting a second shortly after the restart when McCormack's flick in the box found Smith, whose effort was cleared off the line.

A mislaid Danny Guthrie pass just after the hour allowed Charlton to break, though Tony Watt speared his effort wide of the post.

Fulham were again under the cosh minutes later when Gudmunsson's stinging strike from 25 yards was successfully stopped by Marcus Bettinelli.

Soon enough, the pendulum swung the other way as McCormack forced a fingertip stop from Henderson in the 69th minute, while Bryan Ruiz and Smith also fired dangerous efforts towards goal.

The Cottagers came within a whisker of sealing all three points in the latter stages of the game when Smith latched on to a loose ball in the box but fired over, and in injury time, McCormack's free kick soared just wide as the referee's final whistle saw both sides share the spoils.

Charlton sit 11th in the Championship table, while Fulham continue to look over their shoulder in 20th place.
