Only once this season have Steven Gerrard's side won three games in a row.

Ryan Jack admits he cannot remember the last time Rangers enjoyed a lengthy winning run – and insists it is time that changed.

A sorry defeat at Kilmarnock on Wednesday night was yet another reminder of the wild swings in form that have blighted Steven Gerrard's first season as Ibrox boss.

Under the former Liverpool skipper, the Light Blues have managed to string three triumphs together just once – against Rapid Vienna, Hearts and Hamilton back in October. Before that, you have to go back to a six-game spell between February and March last season under Graeme Murty to find the last time Rangers pieced more than two wins together.

And Jack admits Gers must find a way to fix their chronic lack of consistency if they are to reignite a title race which appeared to be firmly on after his goal sank Celtic at Ibrox just four weeks ago.

"When we were speaking with a few boys yesterday morning, we said we don't know the last time we went on an actual winning streak and put a consistent run of victories together," said the midfielder ahead of Sunday's trip to Livingston.

"We all realise that and going into Sunday, we hope this can be the start of a real run of results. We have to use the disappointment and frustration we felt on Wednesday to move forward.

"We had the day off on Thursday and it was a chance to just chill out and reflect on the game, which was disappointing obviously.

"We came back in yesterday and spoke about it all. We all said we want to show a reaction.

"Of course it was frustrating not being able to back up the Old Firm win, but every game is different, very challenge is different.

"We just want to go into Sunday's game now and show a reaction and three points at Livingston will help us along the way with some important games coming up."

Gerrard will be hoping his side respond to the Killie setback in the same way they did to their last trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena.

It was the 1-0 defeat to Gary Holt's Lions which sparked October's hat-trick of back-to-back wins but the Ibrox boss admits his team cannot afford a repeat of the display that allowed Dolly Menga to hand Livi the points last time.

He said: "We didn't perform well enough in a lot of departments. It was a game that we spoke about in a lot of detail afterwards and the reaction from that game was very good.

"We have to learn our lessons and we cannot just expect to go to Livingston and win – you have to earn the right.

"Different places in the league create different challenges and problems for you, so we just need to take each game as it comes and make sure we are ready for the challenge of Livingston.

"I think it will be pretty similar to last time. We think tactically, their game plan will be pretty similar as they got a successful result out of us.

"So it is down to us to maybe find a different way to try and play at a better level and hopefully the game plan we have will be more successful than it was the last time."
