Rangers will be looking to break a 102-year club record when they welcome Hibernian to Ibrox for a Scottish Premiership clash on Saturday afternoon.

Rangers will be looking to break a club record that has stood for 102 years when they welcome Hibernian to Ibrox for a Scottish Premiership clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Gers were last in top-flight action four weeks ago when they suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat to Motherwell on March 2, allowing Celtic – who have played a game more – to move one point clear at the top of the table.

Philippe Clement's men then lost 3-2 on aggregate to Benfica in the Europa League last 16, but they managed to beat Hibs 2-0 in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals in between that two-legged European tie before the international break.

Rangers have lost their last two home games in all competitions (against Motherwell and Benfica) and will be keen to avoid suffering three successive defeats at Ibrox for the first time since March 2012 under former boss Ally McCoist when they play host to Hibs on Saturday.

The Gers, however, will be confident of claiming a positive result against their Edinburgh-based counterparts as they have not lost any of their last 21 top-flight meetings, winning 15 times and drawing six.

This impressive unbeaten run has taken place with four different managers at the helm, starting off with Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, before Michael Beale was succeeded by current boss Clement in October last year.

In addition, this run is Rangers' joint-longest without defeat against Hibs in the top flight, matching their 21-game unbeaten streak between 1912 and 1922.

Rangers will surpass this feat and set a new club record of 22 games undefeated against Hibernian if they claim at least a point from Saturday's contest.

The Glaswegian giants will be regarded as favourites to come out on top against Hibs, but Clement is aware of the threats that Nick Montgomery's men could pose and claims they are "really hungry to beat" his Gers side.

Clement urges Rangers to show the "right mentality" against Hibs

"Hibs are a good footballing team, they create a lot of chances, score a lot of goals, I think third most in the league and they are really hungry to beat us," Clement said at a press conference on Friday.

"I feel it more every time we play against each other that hunger and desire becomes bigger. That is my feeling around that, so we need to see a really good Rangers team and we need to feel a really good support from the fans to play a really strong game to win against them."

"It is all about showing the right mentality, which they have shown in the last couple of months, and showing what we can do together on and off the pitch," Clement added.

"It is about us, it is about performing and focusing on our performance, if we perform well then the points follow.

"Today was the first day we had all the players back together... so in that way it is always exciting because I always see our story together like a book. I talked about that in the past and every week we are writing new pages together.

"But it is important they don't forget the pages we wrote together before in the way that we play football and in the way of what they need to do together on the pitch.

"It seems like months ago that we played together. That is my feeling, so I want to see that they didn't forget anything tomorrow, that is the challenge."

Rangers have been boosted by the return of Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima, Dujon Sterling and Ross McCausland to first-team training, but Ryan Jack, Oscar Cortes, Danilo and Ridvan Yilmaz will all miss Saturday's match due to injury.
