Rangers missed an opportunity to regain second place from Hibernian as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Falkirk in the Scottish Championship this evening.
Rory Loy cancelled out Darren McGregor's opener for the Glasgow giants within two second-half minutes as the hosts stretched their unbeaten run to eight games.
Falkirk's strike partnership of Loy and John Baird caused visiting Rangers problems from the first whistle and each were inches away from connecting with early crosses.
It was against the run of play that the Gers went ahead through defender McGregor, who thumped home from close range after a goalmouth scramble on 20 minutes.
The hosts went straight back up the other end to equalise as Baird delivered for the impressive Loy, who has already agreed a summer move to Dundee, to nod beyond Lee Robinson for his 12th of the season.
Falkirk were the team pushing for a third prior to the break, although they were nearly caught out when keeper Jamie MacDonald had to block Kris Boyd's back-post header.
A scrappy second half provided neither side with a clear-cut chance to find a winner, although both Luke Leahy and Baird threatened from range for Peter Houston's side.
Nicky Clark and Boyd wasted promising openings for Rangers, but MacDonald was never tested in the home goal as the Ibrox outfit again failed to secure successive wins.
They remain a point behind Hibs and six ahead of Falkirk, who leapfrog Queen of the South into fourth courtesy of this result.
