Real Madrid injury, suspension list vs. Celta Vigo

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga clash with Celta Vigo this weekend.

Real Madrid will be looking to make a strong start to their 2019-20 La Liga campaign when they travel to Celta Vigo on Saturday afternoon.

A disappointing 2018-19 season saw Madrid fail to launch a title challenge, but the capital giants will be expected to fight for the title this season following a busy summer of recruitment.

Zinedine Zidane's side have had a tough pre-season in terms of results, though, losing to Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and Roma, in addition to that incredible 7-3 loss against Atletico Madrid.

There is huge pressure on Los Blancos to make a positive start to the campaign.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of the fixture at the Balaidos.

Marco Asensio

Possible return date: Unknown

Marco Asensio will miss the majority of the 2019-20 campaign after picking up a serious knee injury against Arsenal towards the end of July. The Spaniard has since undergone an operation to repair the damage.

Ferland Mendy

Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 1 (vs. Villarreal)

Summer arrival Ferland Mendy is expected to battle Marcelo for the left-back spot in Zidane's first XI this season. The 24-year-old will miss the start of the campaign with a hamstring injury, though.

Brahim Diaz

Possible return date: September 1 (vs. Villarreal)

Brahim Diaz, who moved to the Bernabeu from Manchester City in January, will also miss out this weekend due to a hamstring problem. The 20-year-old was involved under Zidane in the latter stages of the 2018-19 season and could well play a role for the first team over the next few months.

Rodrygo Goes

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Levante)

Madrid will also be without the services of Brazilian teenager Rodrygo Goes, who is facing three weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem. The 18-year-old has impressed for Los Blancos during pre-season following a move from Santos but will be absent against Celta.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Dani Carvajal will miss out through suspension after picking up a yellow card during Madrid's last game of the 2018-19 campaign.
