Live Commentary: Sevilla 3-0 Real Madrid - as it happened

Relive Sports Mole's live coverage of the La Liga clash between Sevilla and Real Madrid from the Estadio Ramon, which finished 3-0.

Real Madrid's rotten recent record at the Estadio Ramon continued on Wednesday night as the capital giants suffered a 3-0 defeat to free-flowing Sevilla in La Liga.

Los Blancos entered the match having lost on each of their last three league visitors to Sevilla, and the home side once again proved far too strong during the 90 minutes of action.

Real Madrid would have gone top of La Liga with a point due to Barcelona's shock 2-1 defeat at Girona, but the European champions were well beaten on the night.

Read how it all unfolded in Sports Mole's minute-by-minute live commentary of the action below.

Evening all! Sports Mole's live La Liga coverage continues from the Estadio Ramon as Sevilla host Real Madrid. Sevilla have won two, drawn one and lost two of their first five matches of the 2018-19 La Liga season, with a total of seven points leaving them in ninth position in the table. Real Madrid, meanwhile, have collected 13 points from their five fixtures thus far, but were held to a 1-1 draw by Athletic Bilbao in their last away league match. It should be a cracking match tonight; stay tuned!

This fixture is traditionally one of the most exciting of the La Liga season, and let's hope that it does not disappoint tonight. Sevilla have actually won each of the last three league meetings between the two teams at the Estadio Ramon, including a 3-2 success back in May. Indeed, the last time that Real Madrid managed to collect all three points from this stadium was back in May 2015.

Right, without further ado, let me bring you up-to-speed with the all-important team news. We already know that there is no Isco for Los Blancos, with the Spaniard diagnosed with acute appendicitis. Sevilla, meanwhile, had no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match. Let's have a look...

TEAMS!

SEVILLA: Vaclik; Carrico, Kjaer, Gomez; Navas, Banega, Sarabia, Arana; Vazquez; Silva, Ben Yedder

MADRID: Courtois; Nacho, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Bale, Benzema, Asensio

So there we have it. Sevilla boss Pacho Machin has made just the one change to the team that started the 6-2 win over Levante at the weekend. The alteration comes in a wide position as Guilherme Arana replaces Aleix Vidal. Wissam Ben Yedder struck a brilliant hat-trick against Levante and keeps his spot, while Andre Silva also continues in the final third of the field.

As for Real Madrid, head coach Julen Lopetegui has made three changes to the team that started the 1-0 win over Espanyol at the weekend. Isco, as mentioned, drops out, while Dani Ceballos and Alvaro Odriozola are also omitted. In come Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Toni Kroos, with the former joining Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio in the final third. Plenty of attacking talent on display!

So there we have it. The two teams are in, and we are just about 40 minutes from kickoff. I shall talk about Sevilla a little bit later, but let's start with Real Madrid. As mentioned, Los Blancos have won four and drawn one of their five La Liga matches this season to sit second in the table. That said, they would go top with a point tonight if Leganes can hold onto their lead against Barcelona.

Real Madrid opened their 2018-19 La Liga season with a 2-0 win over Getafe, before thumping Girona 4-1 in their first away game of the campaign. Then came a 4-1 home win over Leganes, but Real Madrid did drop their first points of the season in their last away match at Athletic Bilbao.

Real Madrid returned to winning ways in La Liga at the weekend, however, courtesy of a 1-0 home success over Espanyol. It was not exactly a vintage performance from the Madrid giants, but a first-half Asensio effort proved enough to collect all three points. Lopetegui's side were also in Champions League action last week, and started with an impressive 3-0 home win over Roma.

In terms of what is ahead for Real Madrid, they have the small matter of the Madrid derby at home to Atletico Madrid to come on Saturday night. Lopetegui's side will then visit CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on October 2, before continuing their La Liga challenge at Alaves on October 6.

Sevilla, meanwhile, will enter this match off the back of a thumping 6-2 win at Levante on Sunday. Pablo Machin's side lost back-to-back league games to Real Betis and Getafe earlier this month, but the victory over Levante followed an impressive 5-1 success over Standard Liege in Europe.

In terms of what is ahead for Sevilla, the Estadio Ramon outfit will travel to Eibar in their next league match this weekend, before visiting Krasnodar in the Europa League on October 4. The Europa League is, of course, a competition that Sevilla know very well indeed. Machin's side will surely be among the clubs looking to advance into the very final stages of this year's tournament.

It is still Leganes 2-1 Barcelona. Follow the final stages of that one right here!

FULL-TIME: LEGANES 2-1 BARCELONA

Incredibly, Barcelona have lost at Leganes. As a result, a point would be enough for Real Madrid to move to the top of the table tonight. What a huge shock with the champions suffering defeat!

Right, here we go then. Both sets of players have joined us on the pitch ahead of kickoff, which is now less than five minutes away. Sevilla have won each of the last three league meetings between these two teams at the Estadio Ramon, and will be looking for their third straight victory in all competitions tonight. Be sure to stay tuned for live minute-by-minute coverage of the action!

KICKOFF:  Sevilla kick things off on home soil...

SAVE!  ... wonderful start from Sevilla as Andre Silva breaks into the Real Madrid box before firing towards goal, but Courtois is on hand to make the save. The resulting corner is then cleared.

Good possession for Real Madrid in the last few minutes, with Modric getting on the ball in the middle of the park. Sevilla, however, are the team looking to commit players forward at the moment.

Bale drives into a dangerous position before finding Benzema, the Frenchman attempts to return the favour, but Sevilla clear their lines. Bale will be very dangerous on the counter tonight.

It must be said that there is a wonderful atmosphere inside the stadium tonight. The home fans continue to drive their team forward, and a lot of crosses are coming into the Real Madrid box.

SAVE!  Courtois has to keep out a header from Ben Yedder as Sevilla continue to cause problems in wide positions. Real Madrid have not really settled in the early stages here.

Navas again shows his trickery in a wide position before delivering low into Ben Yedder, but the ball bounces away from the centre-forward. Pretty much one-way traffic at the moment here.

Not too much to report in the last couple of minutes, but Real Madrid have started to see more of the ball in Sevilla's half of the field. No opportunities for the away side thus far tonight though.

Pass, pass, pass from Real Madrid as they move the ball in Sevilla's half of the field.

Nacho does really well to head a Navas cross over his own crossbar from a dangerous position. The resulting corner comes into the six-yard box, but once again Real Madrid clear their lines.

CHANCE!  Huge chance for Sevilla, but Wen Yedder fires over from inside the box!

GOAL!  GOAL! SEVILLA 1-0 REAL MADRID (SILVA)

Oh my goodness! Sevilla make the breakthrough in the 17th minute as Navas again breaks down the right before delivering a low cross into Silva, who simply places the ball past Courtois!

It has been a decent response from Real Madrid, with Modric getting on the ball in the middle of the park. The Sevilla supporters are absolutely loving this at the moment, and why not?

SEVILLA 2-0 REAL MADRID (SILVA)

Wow! Sevilla have their second of the match, and it is Silva once again! It comes from a quick break, with Navas striding forward. The wing-back brings a smart save from Courtois, but Silva picks up the loose ball to convert! Expert counter-attack from the home side here!

Real Madrid really, really, really need a goal back quickly here. They really do.

OFF THE POST!  Bale strikes the post with a powerful effort from distance.

SHOT!  Kroos fires wide of the Sevilla post from a narrowing ankle.

YELLOW CARD!  Bale (Real Madrid) is booked for a late challenge on Vazquez.

Little over 15 minutes of the first period remaining, and Sevilla still lead 2-0.

SHOT!  Kroos strikes wide of the post with a long-range effort.

****COOLING BREAK****

OFF THE BAR!  Almost three for Sevilla, but Vazquez's curling effort hits the crossbar!

YELLOW CARD!  Vazquez (Sevilla) is booked for a foul on Bale.

Little under 10 minutes of the first period remaining, and Real Madrid currently have the ball in Sevilla's half of the field. Sevilla will be desperate to keep a first-half clean sheet here.

GOAL!  SEVILLA 3-0 REAL MADRID (BEN YEDDER)

Incredible. Just incredible. Sevilla have their third of the match as Ben Yedder pokes the ball past Courtois from close range. The centre-forward now has six goals in his last three matches. The Real Madrid players stand and stare, with Ramos and Benzema looking very confused indeed.

CHANCE!  Gomez scoops the ball over the Real Madrid crossbar from close range as Sevilla look for a fourth. Some of the defending from the away side tonight has been absolutely appalling!

Ben Yedder and Silva have been absolutely wonderful for Sevilla in this first period.

Real Madrid have a free kick in a dangerous area as Banega fells Casemiro...

... Ramos's free kick hits the Sevilla wall and bounces behind.

We are into the second of two added minutes at the end of the first period.

HALF TIME:  SEVILLA 3-0 REAL MADRID

So there we have it. The referee brings the first period to a close with Sevilla leading Real Madrid 3-0. Andre Silva scored twice in the space of four minutes to send the home side two goals ahead, before Ben Yedder netted a third in the 39th minute. It has been a quite incredible half of football.

STATISTICS! Real Madrid had 65% of the possession in the first period, but only hit the target with one of their eight attempts, which will concern Lopetegui. Sevilla, meanwhile, managed six attempts on target in the first 45 minutes. Two yellows to report - Bale (27 min) and Vazquez (34 min).

BENCH WATCH! It does appear that Real Madrid will make changes at the interval, with Ceballos, Mariano and Lucas all warming-up. We could well see two of those ahead of the second period. Sevilla, meanwhile, have the likes of Nolito, Mesa, Muriel and Promes on what is a strong bench.

KICKOFF:  Real Madrid resume the action here...

... no changes from the away side at the break, which is a bit of a surprise.

Sevilla continue to cause problems in wide positions, with Sarabia breaking down the left before delivering, but Casemiro makes the clearance. A fourth for Sevilla would seal all the points.

SHOT!  Bale strikes from outside the Sevilla box, but his effort was always wide.

GOAL!  SEVILLA 3-1 REAL MADRID (MODRIC)

VAR are having a look at this goal. It might well be disallowed!

GOAL DISALLOWED! OFFSIDE!

Modric produced a wonderful finish from inside the Sevilla box, but the goal has been disallowed following a VAR review. It is tough on Real Madrid, but it is the correct decision.

SAVE!  Wonderful save from Vaclik to keep out a strike from Modric!

SAVE!  Super save from Courtois this time to keep out an effort from Sarabia!

CHANCE!  Wonderful block from Bale to prevent Arana from scoring from close range!

REAL MADRID SUB! Nacho is replaced by Lucas.

REAL MADRID SUB! Mariano replaces Benzema.

SAVE!  Stunning save from Vaclik to keep out a strike from Bale! Had to score!

SHOT!  Another chance for Bale as the Wales international collects a pass from Kroos, but his effort is wide of the post. Has not quite happened for Bale in the first 63 minutes of this one.

YELLOW CARD!  Modric and Kroos (Real Madrid) both pick up bookings for dissent.

No movement on the Sevilla bench, but Machin will be considering changes at this stage.

Plenty of possession for Real Madrid at the moment, but Sevilla are pretty comfortable. It is going to take some effort from the away side to turn this around in the final 20 minutes.

SEVILLA SUB! Promes replaces Ben Yedder for the home side.

REAL MADRID SUB! Ceballos replaces Modric for the away side.

CLOSE!  Mariano strikes over the Sevilla crossbar from inside the penalty box.

Little over 15 minutes of the second period remaining, and Sevilla are comfortable.

YELLOW CARD!  Banega (Sevilla) is booked for a foul on Casemiro.

**** COOLING BREAK ****

Marcelo has had to leave the field here, meaning that Real Madrid will finish with 10 men.

Real Madrid have the small matter of the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid this weekend, and Atletico will be very encouraged by this result. Still 3-0 Sevilla with 79 minutes on the clock.

YELLOW CARD!  Sarabia (Sevilla) is booked for a foul on Ceballos.

CHANCE!  Incredible miss from Vazquez as the Sevilla attacker fires over the crossbar from in front of an open goal! Courtois kept out a cross from Silva, but Vazquez missed the goal!

Sevilla are threatening more goals as they continue to find space in the final third of the field.

Real Madrid currently have the ball in Sevilla's half of the field, but not too much is happening. The European champions really have been poor tonight, and deserve nothing from the match.

SEVILLA SUB! Nolito replaces Arana for the home side.

YELLOW CARD!  Mariano (Real Madrid) is booked for an elbow on Gomez.

Quite a scrappy game at the moment as late challenges continue to arrive.

SEVILLA SUB! Banega is replaced by Mesa for the home side.

We are into the second of five additional minutes at the end of the match.

Sevilla are keeping the ball, which the home supporters are absolutely loving as they cheer every pass. Real Madrid want this match to finish as soon as possible. Luckily for them, it soon will.

FULL TIME:  SEVILLA 3-0 REAL MADRID

So there we have it. The referee brings the second period to a close with Sevilla running out 3-0 winners over Real Madrid. What an incredible result! Thanks for joining Sports Mole for our live Spanish coverage once again. Until next time!
