Ibai Gomez: 'Athletic Bilbao unlucky to draw'

Spanish winger Ibai Gomez says that Athletic Bilbao "were the better side" in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.

Athletic Bilbao winger Ibai Gomez believes that his side were unlucky not to pick up all three points against Real Madrid at San Mames.

The pair shared the points in a 1-1 draw on Sunday evening in a match that saw Cristiano Ronaldo handed his marching orders for Los Blancos.

"We were the better side and I think we deserved more, but a draw against Real Madrid is always good," he told reporters at a press conference.

"I'm very happy for my goal, especially since it saved a point for the team. I had another chance, but Diego (Lopez) made a brilliant stop. It was a very difficult match."

Bilbao are unbeaten on their own patch in La Liga this season.
