Brazil legend Ronaldo insists that he and namesake Cristiano Ronaldo "cannot be compared" and insists that the Portuguese forward is "one of the best".

Brazil legend Ronaldo has admitted that it "must be boring" for his namesake Cristiano Ronaldo to hear him referred to as the 'real Ronaldo'.

Both players are considered among the best players of their generations and two of the best of all time, with the Brazilian Ronaldo being named FIFA World Player of the Year twice before the age of 21 and adding a third in 2002.

Cristiano has since been named the world's best player on five occasions - a tally bettered only by perennial rival Lionel Messi - and Ronaldo believes that both deserve their place among the greats.

"For Cristiano, it must be boring to hear that I am the real Ronaldo," the two-time World Cup winner said during an Instagram video.

"People cannot be compared. Cristiano will remain in football history for the goals and for the continuity he has achieved. He will remain one of the best, like Messi."

Ronaldo scored 352 goals in 518 club games during his career, while Cristiano has 626 goals in 838 club outings.
