Ricardo Carvalho and Fernando Gago reportedly move close to the Real Madrid exit.

Real Madrid duo Ricardo Carvalho and Fernando Gago are both reportedly close to leaving the Spanish club.

The pair were not present during Madrid's pre-season training on Monday, and it is understood that boss Jose Mourinho has given them permission to speak to other clubs, according to AS.

Carvalho, 34, was crippled by injury in the last campaign and made just 13 appearances, while Gago, 26, spent last season on loan at Roma after falling out of favour in Spain.

Madrid open up their league campaign against Valencia on August 18.
