Real Madrid are reportedly on the verge of announcing new contracts for midfield duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Real Madrid are reportedly on the verge of announcing new contracts for midfield duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Both Modric, 37, and Kroos 33, have entered the latter stages of their careers and will see their current deals at the Santiago Bernabeu expire at the end of the season.

Modric has enjoyed a trophy-laden 11-year spell with Real Madrid since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, lifting a total of 23 pieces of silverware including five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.

The experiences Croatian, who won the 2018 Ballon d'Or, has contributed with 37 goals and 77 assists in 485 games across all competitions, and he remains a prominent figure under Carlo Ancelotti having started 33 of his 49 appearances so far this season.

Meanwhile, Kroos joined Los Blancos from Bayern Munich in 2014 and has since won 19 trophies with the Spanish giants, including four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.

The German, who has formed a strong partnership with Modric in midfield, has notched up 27 goals and 88 assists in 414 matches in all tournaments, including two goals and three assists in 49 appearances this term.

A recent report claims that Los Blancos are set to announce a new one-year contract extension for Modric in 'the coming days'.

Kroos, meanwhile, revealed last month that "everything is on the right track" for him to pen fresh terms to a new short-term deal with the Spanish giants.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, both midfielders are expected to extend their contracts "very soon" and it is 'just a matter of time' before an announcement is made by Real Madrid.

Romano adds that Kroos has already put pen to paper on a new contract until the summer of 2024, and Modric is poised to do the same.

Furthermore, Romano states that Los Blancos are also set to officially confirm a new contract for star winger Vinicius Junior.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a key player in Ancelotti's side this season, contributing with 23 goals and 21 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.

Vinicius was recently subjected to alleged racism in Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat at Valencia on Sunday and he has since hit out at La Liga, stating that "racism is normal" in the Spanish top flight.

Despite this, the Brazilian is understood to have no plans to leave the Bernabeu this summer and is determined to "stay and beat racism in Spain".
