Bundesliga side Schalke 04 have held talks with Real Madrid's Sami Khedira over a possible move, according to the club's chairman.
The 27-year-old has endured an injury-ravaged season and is thought to be considered surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu.
His current deal expires at the end of this season and he has been free to discuss a contract with other clubs since the end of January.
"There have been initial talks. We believe that a fit-again Khedira would help us," Schalke's chairman Clemens Tonnies told Bild.
Khedira, who has 53 caps for Germany, has made just three La Liga starts for Madrid this season.
