Didier Deschamps says that Laurent Blanc is in talks with Roma about the possibility of becoming their new manager.

France coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that his predecessor Laurent Blanc is in talks to become the new manager of Roma.

The Giallorossi were believed to be keen on talking to Massimiliano Allegri, but have had to divert their attention elsewhere after AC Milan decided to keep the 45-year-old in charge.

According to Deschamps, Roma have approached the former Manchester United defender, who left his post with Les Bleus following Euro 2012.

"I want to wait until it is official, but I know they are on the right track with talks," Deschamps told reporters. "Laurent wants a bench and a new opportunity to work.

"Roma are a good club, albeit with a particular type of pressure around them. If it is officially confirmed, then I'm very happy for him."

Blanc's first and only job in club management was at Bordeaux between 2007 and 2010.
