The hosts took the lead through Rodrigo Taddei's 13th-minute strike, with the midfielder being picked out by Francesco Totti before finding the top corner from distance.
Totti almost got on the scoresheet himself shortly after, peeling away from his marker to meet Maicon's cross which he fired just wide of the target.
Roma continued pressing for a second goal and they nearly found one when Taddei looked to beat the keeper with a fine effort, but the ball sailed inches wide of the post.

The Giallorossi did double their lead on the brink of half time, however, with Adam Ljajic striking a low shot into the bottom corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Gervinho added goal number three shortly after the hour-mark when he unleashed an effort past Andrea Consigli, although the Nerazzurri did manage to pull a goal back with a little over 10 minutes remaining, with Giulio Migliaccio heading home following Yohan Benalouane's cross into the box to regain some pride.
Juventus can regain their eight-point cushion when they face Udinese on Monday night.
