San Jose Earthquakes snap up Innocent Emeghara

Swiss striker Innocent Emeghera joins MLS side the San Jose Earthquakes as a designated player.

MLS side the San Jose Earthquakes have completed the signing of Swiss striker Innocent Emeghara on a designated player contract.

The 25-year-old, who has nine caps for Switzerland, had previously been with Azerbaijan side Qarabag, where he scored five goals in eight games.

His former sides also include Grasshopper Zurich, Lorient, Siena and Livorno.

"We are excited to sign a player of his quality," Earthquakes general manager John Doyle said in a statement.

"He is a player in the prime of his career who has played at the highest levels and we are happy to bring him here on a long-term deal."

Emeghara becomes San Jose's third designated player, joining American forward Chris Wondolowski and Argentinean midfielder Matias Perez Garcia.
